Several Stratford band students competed at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest on May 28, 2007. Receiving medals in Solo competition with a rating of excellent were:

Denise Salazar and Marisa Knight on flute; and Sam Lee on clarinet. the flute trio of Hitomi Morishima, Denise Salazar, and Jennifer Wong received a Superior Rating at this contest. Congratulations to these students for their great work!

The Stratford Honors Band was named best in festival at the Bluebonnet Festival in San Antonio during the first weekend of May. They also received a Superior Rating at the festival. Rodger Rodiek and Peyton Davis were named as outstanding soloists. Band, Orchestras, and Choirs from all over the USA competed at this festival.

Congratulations to the following students for their success at the 2006-7 TMEA Region 27 All Region Band tryouts:

Selected to the High School Region band were: Sam Lee, Joanne Lee, and Cynthia Sharadin on clarinet; and Roger Rodiek on French Horn, and Jake Kaminski on Bass Trombone..

Selected to the Freshman Region Band were Chelsea Kaplun on flute, Natalie Wright on French Horn, and Joey Hayes on Tuba.

Roger Rodiek will advance to the Area E tryouts in San Antonio.

Natalie Wright was selected to the Region 27 All Region Jazz Band!

Rodger Rodiek was selected to perform with the Region 27 All Region Orchestra. The Orchestra performed in Concert at Cy Falls High School on Saturday, November 18, 2006.

Congratulations to the Stratford Honors Band! They received First Division Ratings at Concert and Sightreading Contest yesterday at the Region X UIL Contest. It was a great performance by the students in this group. Combining this honor with the first division rating at Marching contest in the fall, the Stratford Band program received the U.I.L. Sweepstakes Award.

The 2005-6 Stratford Spartan Marching Band received a First Division rating at U.I.L. Marching Contest held on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Pridgeon Stadium in Cy - Fair. This was the fourth consecutive year for the band the receive Superior ratings at this contest.

Roger Rodiek was selected to the Region 23 All-Region Orchestra. The orchestra will perform a concert on November 12, 2005.

The following students were selected to the Region 23 All Region Band:

Janice Love - Flute

Eric Sung - Trumpet

Roger Rodiek - French Horn

Carolyn Gjertsen - Trombone

Selected to the Region 23 Freshman All Region Band were:

Hitomi Morishima - Flute

Yuya Yamasaki - Trumpet

Rodger Rodiek advanced to Area E tryouts.

The Stratford Honors Band was named Best in Class(5A) at the Bluebonnet Festival in San Antonio held in May, 2005.

The Stratford Spartan Marching Band received a First Division rating at U.I.L. Marching Contest held on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Pridgeon Stadium in Cy - Fair. The band advanced to the Area E Marching Contest held in San Antonio.

Auditions were held last night for the Region 23 All-Region Orchestra. Selected to the group were Ellen Bankhead on flute; and Roger Rodiek on French Horn. The Region Orchestra’s will perform in Concert this weekend at Cy-Falls High School.

Jung Kim and Janice Love, on flute; Yohei Akiba, on clarinet; and Rachel Rollins on Oboe.

Selected to the Freshman Region Band were:

Yohei Akiba and Angela Jeon on clarinet.

Selected to the High School Region Band were:

Ellen Bankhead, on Flute; Makenna Nielsen, on Bassoon, Sam Zhang, on Tenor Saxophone; Eric Sung, on Trumpet; and Roger Rodiek; on French Horn.

Ellen Bankhead and Roger Rodiek will advance to Area Competition.

The Stratford Honors Band was named best in Class at the American Classic Festival in San Antonio.
