2009-10
The Stratford High School Honors Band received Superior ratings in both Concert and Sight-reading Contests this past weekend. As a result of these Superior ratings, along with the Superior rating received at the UIL Marching Contest this fall, the Stratford Band received the UIL Sweepstakes award. To receive this award, high school bands must receive Superior ratings in all three contests.
The band performed The Mad Major March, by Kenneth Alford; In the Center Ring, by Robert Sheldon; and La Forza del Destino, by Guiseppe Verdi.
The Stratford High School Band will give a concert on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the Stratford High School Auditorium. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m.
2008-9
Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest 2008-9
Two ensembles from Stratford High School competed at the TSSEC at the University of Texas-Austin. Two ensembles earned first divisions ratings at this contest.
Hitomi Morishima, Denise Salazar, and Jennifer Wong competed as a Flute Trio. This is the third year in a row that they received Superior ratings.
Mason Hurtte, Kevin Purcell, Quinn Taylor, and Cameron Tassin performed as a Saxphone Quartet and received Superior ratings.

Region Band Information
Congratulations to the following students for their success at the TMEA Region 27 All Region Band tryouts:
Selected to the High School Region band were: Jennifer Wong, Hitomi Morishima, Denise Salazar and Marisa Knight, on Flute; Joon Wu Kang on Clarinet; Quinn Taylor on Alto Saxophone, and Natalie Wright on French Horn.
Owen Schwartzbard was selected to the District Band on Clarinet.
Nicolas Kim was selected to the Freshman Region Band on Clarinet.
Hitomi Morishima advanced to the Area E tryouts in San Antonio on January 10, 2009.
The Region 27 All Region Bands will perform a Concert on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Cy Woods High School.
The Stratford Spartan Marching Band received a First Division rating at U.I.L. Region 27 Marching Contest held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Berry Stadium in Cy - Fair. The band's show featured music form Cirque du Sole's productions of Quidam and The O Show. The band receiving Superior (First Division) ratings from all three judges.
The Band will now advance to the Area E Marching Contest. The contest will also be held at the Berry Center in Cy-Fair on
Saturday, October 25. Bands from the Fort Bend, Cy-Fair, Katy, and Spring Branch school districts will compete at this contest for the chance to advance to the State Marching Contest. . The Stratford Band will perform at 3:30 p.m.

Advancing to Round 2 of the auditions and being selected to the Region 27 All District Band were Kasumi Nakashima, on Flute; Julian Cerana, on Trombone; Kevin Wang, on Euphonium, and Alan Jones, on Percussion.
Selected to the High School Region band were: Jennifer Wong, Hitomi Morishima, and Marisa Knight, on Flute; Katherine Kelsch, Sam Lee, and Joanne Lee on Clarinet; and Natalie Wright on French horn.
Selected to the Freshman Region Band were Quinn Taylor on Alto Saxophone, Kevin Purcell on Tenor Saxophone, and Joon Kang on Clarinet.
Jennifer Wong advanced to the Area E tryouts in San Antonio on January 5, 2008.
The Region 27 All Region Bands performed a Concert on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Langham Creek High School. A great amount of effort was put forth by these students to achieve these outstanding results. Region 27 is considered one of the most competitive regions in the state for music competition. Congratulations to these students for their outstanding efforts. Congratulations to all of the Stratford students participating in this event.
