Stratford Band

Band Boosters President’s Corner

Welcome to all our new and returning band families. Once again summer band has started and school is just around the corner. I know you are all thinking the same thing that I am thinking – I cannot believe that my child is a (fill in the blank with their grade), especially our freshmen and senior parents. It is amazing how quickly our children grow up and our time at Stratford passes. The purpose of the Stratford Band Boosters is to support the band (our kids). We do it all, from altering their uniforms to chaperoning to providing them with water at the football games to purchasing band equipment and granting scholarships.  We could not do any of this without the generous support of our band families. As in years past, we have a very exciting and busy fall season ahead of us. And we encourage all band families to help make this all possible.

In order to get this year off to a great start, please make a note of these important events Band Rush on August 13th from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm in the Band Hall and Outback Dinner on August 17th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm in the Cafeteria.

Band Rush will give you an opportunity to pay student fees, purchase Outback Dinner tickets, order band merchandise, and sign up as a volunteer for your band! More importantly, it will give your student the opportunity to get their uniform fitted, order shoes and sign up for student fundraising.

Outback Dinner is one of our major fundraising activities. The dinner is generously donated at a reduced fee by one of our past band families – Lyle and Rhozine Hart, owners of the Outback Steakhouse on Westheimer near Gessner – and we make money by selling dinners.  The food is great, the company is terrific and we get a sneak preview of the music that our band will be playing.

I look forward to meeting each and every band family.  If you’re looking for a way to help, call me or email me.  There is something for everybody!

Our first football game is Thursday, August 25th against our rival Memorial at Tully Stadium.  See you there!

Go ahead and get this done before the busy year gets underway.
